The Wikimedia+Libraries International Convention 2025, also known as WikiLibCon25, will take place from January 15th to 17th, 2025, at the El Colegio de México in Mexico City. This conference will unite Wikimedians, Wikibrarians, information professionals, library workers, and mission-aligned partners globally. Organized by the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group, in collaboration with Wikimedia México, the convention will address how Wikimedians and Wikilibrarians can collaborate to assess, analyze, and counteract disinformation online.

Theme: Disinformation as a Threat As disinformation poses a growing threat to the dissemination of reliable information, this convention will explore the roles that librarians and information professionals may play in fostering accurate, reliable, and impartial communication. The event aims to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange between librarians and Wikimedians by showcasing case studies, best practices, tools, collaborations, and methods, to counteract disinformation.

Call for Papers

The organizing committee invites scholars, practitioners, and experts in the field to submit proposals for sessions that align with the theme of the conference. Proposals can be submitted in English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese. Prospective participants are encouraged to propose lectures, demonstrations, panels, workshops, lightning talks, and birds of a feather sessions, among others, related to mitigating disinformation. The convention will also provide an opportunity for attendees to reconnect, network, and reflect on the evolution of Wikimedia+Libraries since the last gathering in Maynooth 2022.
