To provide the best possible program for the 2025 Wikisource Conference, the program submission deadline has been officially extended until 30 September 2024. This extension will hopefully allow Wikisource activists to rethink the innovative and collaborative ideas we have been waiting for.
The last Wikisource 2025 conference was held in 2015 in Vienna, Austria. By this time, a lot had already happened and evolved among Wikisource contributors. We certainly expect a lively meeting to discuss Wikisource’s development. We can use this meeting to explore advances in digitization and highlight best practices in collaborative projects.

Why Extended?
We await more exciting ideas to find impactful ways to improve Wikisource. Only let your ideas evaporate while trying to share them at this prestigious conference for individuals working to provide free access to knowledge. Sign up! We invite you to join and participate in growing Wikisource.
What are we looking for?
The Wikisource 2025 conference topic focuses on improving the collaborative process of digital archiving and accessibility of written content (Wikisource: Transform & Preserve Heritage Digitally). We look forward to welcoming you senior users and sharing your valuable experiences at the conference. We also look forward to welcoming new users to share their views and experiences in trying to contribute to Wikisource. Your attention will help Wikisource continue to exist.
Sessions that you can consider submitting are,
- Lightning talk: One presenter gives a talk without follow-up from the audience. The total time for a lightning talk will be 5-10 minutes.
- Lecture: One or two presenters offer(s) a presentation followed by questions and comments from the audience. The total time for a lecture (including questions and comments) will be 30-45 minutes.
- Meetup: A group of people with common interests informally discuss different topics. The meeting time is not pre-determined and depends on the proposer’s preferences.
- Workshop: One or two moderators present(s) a topic by actively interacting with the audience. The total time for a workshop will be 60-120 minutes.
- Panel Discussion: 3-4 people (including one moderator) discussing and providing different perspectives on a particular topic for 45-60 minutes.
