Hooray for 24 years! Help us celebrate the next milestone by sharing your thoughts on Wikipedia’s 25th birthday on Meta-Wiki.

For 24 years, Wikipedia has been a hub for sharing knowledge across the world – and it’s all thanks to you. Over the last two decades, you’ve helped shape a platform that connects people worldwide to the information they need.
Each month, Wikipedia receives more than 15 billion views from users around the world. With over 63 million articles, edited by nearly 260,000 volunteer editors every month in more than 300 languages, together we have made Wikipedia one of the largest and most trusted sources of knowledge on the internet.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible efforts of our movement and volunteers like you, who write, edit, and shape its content. Every edit you make, every article you patrol, every source you add – they have all contributed to the Wikipedia we have today.

Much like any 24 year old, Wikipedia is old enough to have gained some wisdom and credibility, but young enough to feel vibrant and full of potential. It’s the perfect mix of maturity and promise – over two decades of connecting people through knowledge while evolving to serve the needs of today’s world.
Twenty-four years as the last best place on the internet is an achievement worth celebrating, but we can’t help looking ahead to next year’s monumental anniversary: 25 years! A quarter-century of Wikipedia deserves an extraordinary celebration.
But just how should we mark this milestone as a movement? Share your ideas with us on Meta-Wiki, and let’s make this celebration one for the books – or better yet, the wikis!
