Diglê Ahosso Beraca: when availability and commitment are at Wikimedia’s service 

Winner of the Volunteer Commitment Award at the Trophées Zenman 2023-2024, Diglê Ahosso Beraca embodies the passion, determination and altruism that define the true builders of the Wikimedia Côte d’Ivoire community. Since joining the movement in 2022, she has made a name for herself through her availability and sincere commitment. Here’s a look back at the career of a young woman for whom every contribution is a stone in the edifice of free knowledge.

In 2022, Diglê Ahosso Beraca officially joined the Wikimedia Côte d’Ivoire family, after being recognized as the best contributor following a training course. This recognition marked the start of a deeply human adventure.

Her commitment was soon reinforced by an internship with the association, an experience she describes as the key to “truly discovering the movement” and understanding its essential workings.

A lover of words, Diglê is not content with a single platform. She contributes to Wikipedia, Wikiquote and Wiktionnaire, broadening the spectrum of her impact.

But every journey has its trials and tribulations, and Diglê is no exception. During one of her adventures on the Commons Photowalk project, an incident could have brought everything to a halt, as she recounts: “I had a small accident during the photo walks, but I continued with the photos and completed the area before seeking medical attention and informing my family.”

Far from discouraging her, this episode strengthened her determination and commitment to the mission she had set herself. For her, this experience is both “exciting and exhausting”, but above all a source of pride and usefulness to the community.

The Zenman Trophies Volunteer Involvement Award is much more than a reward for her. It symbolizes “the result of hard, useful work” and is an inexhaustible source of motivation to “redouble our efforts”.

As for new contributors, she has a simple but powerful message for them: “Be a volunteer without self-interest.”

A phrase that resonates like a mantra and reminds us that volunteer commitment, when guided by a sincere passion, can truly change the world, one contribution at a time.
