Wiki Loves Monuments in 2012 saw more than 15,000 contestants in 36 countries upload more than 360,000 photos throughout September. While the international winners won’t be announced until early December, the national juries in participating countries have selected their favorite photos.
The top-10 photos from the Philippines highlight the architectural and natural beauty of the the coutnry, with an emphasis on historic churches and cathedrals. The pictures also reflect the tropical surroundings of the monuments. In the Philippines, more than 300 contributors added 2,300 images to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and any other freely-licensed project. Congratulations to the winners in Philippines and stay tuned for more updates.
