In the 2012 Wiki Loves Monuments contest, Ukraine saw amazing contributions, both in quantity and quality. In all, 651 participants uploaded over 33,142 images, making it the country with the fourth highest image total. Deciding on the top ten finalists to send to the international competition was no easy task for the jury. From the colorful Intersession Church to the somber Monument to Flooded Ships, the top ten finalists captured some of the country’s most stunning architecture and monuments.
The top prize went to a beautiful image of the Trinity Monastery with its seven bright green cupolas. Both the second and third place prize went to photographs of waterfront fortresses: the Yani-Kale and Khotyn.
