Impressions of the second edition of the “Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom” training in Morocco

It has been fantastic to see the leadership of the Wikimedia Morocco UG in implementing the “Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom” program. From the pilot experience in 2020, they demonstrated the values of collaboration and innovation in their work helping local teachers develop MIL skills through Wikipedia. The Certified Trainers in Morocco have prioritized listening to teachers and creating a supportive and caring learning environment for them. In the iterations, they have brought forward since the pilot they have tested new ideas, learned from other Certified Trainers, and reflected on their experiences – showing a culture of constant improvement. Not only has the user group had a positive impact on teachers’ professional development, they have also welcomed them to the Wikimedia movement with open arms. Moreover, as the program scaled, the Wikimedia Morocco UG has supported new Certified Trainers sharing learnings from their implementation and inspiring them to achieve their goals. I’m excited to see the future of “Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom” in Morocco and the growing community of teachers there!

classroom. The program was a success here in Morocco. We managed to engage teachers from different regions in Morocco and from various backgrounds, which is quite a significant achievement. None of this couldn’t have happened without our partners’ support and our user group’s strong teamwork. The most important thing for a successful EduWiki project is strong partnerships. Partnerships are important in any project as they provide essential support to the project regarding resources, knowledge, and skills. Without the support of partners, many projects would be unable to get off the ground. For example, without the financial support of the Wikimedia Foundation, the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom project in Morocco would likely fail as these kinds of projects must be well-financed, as this will ensure that it can continue to have a positive impact in the long term. I believe that EduWiki projects are important because they provide access to knowledge for people who might not otherwise have it. They promote the use of open educational resources, which can help reduce the cost of education and make it more accessible to everyone. “Empowering” and “engaging” are two words that come to mind when thinking about how a great EduWiki project can affect a community.

على شاطئ البحر ( الرميلات،أصيلة.)وأنا أطالع كتاب لألن وود… فهمت أن “كانط” أشار إلى اكتشافين رئيسيين هما: فن حكم الناس وفن تربيتهم. فوجدت أن سياق المخيم التكويني حامل لهذا المعنى، خصوصا أن جميع المشاركين كشفوا عن ماستقدح به عقولهم من أجل تجديد الممارسة الصفية…وكلهم رغبة من أجل إقدار المتعلمة و المتعلم على الفهم والادراك….وهذا سيكون توقيعا مناسبا عن ميلاد روح تربوية جديدة.قواما الأستاذ الفنان المكتشف للمواهب .وعليه فنحن في بداية كتابة قصة تربوية موضمونها تجربة مبتكرة بين أستاذ مثقف نشيط و تلميذ طموح ومشاكس معرفيا. وأنا في هذه اللحظة يسكنني أحساس أردت أن أسميه” الاعتراف بالجميل التربوي”
