It’s that time of the year when the Wikimedia Foundation receives the community’s requests for tools and platform improvement.
On 23 January, the 2023 edition of the Community Wishlist Survey, the event for submitting and voting on technical requests, will open for proposals.
During the survey, the community makes proposals, the proposals are reviewed, and finally, the community votes up the favourites to be accepted for implementation.
If you have any tools and improvement ideas, CWS 2023 is the place to bring them. You can start drafting your proposals in the CWS sandbox.
Here are the essential survey timelines to take note of:
Phase 1: Submit, discuss, and revise proposals – 23 January 2023 to 6 February 2023
Phase 2: WMF/Community Tech reviews and organizes proposals – 30 January 2023 to 10 February 2023
Phase 3: Community votes on proposals – 10 February 2023 to 24 February 2023
Phase 4: Community Rech posts vote results – 28 February 2023
There is an FAQ page; you can also ask questions on the Wishlist talkpage.
Also known as CWS or simply Wishlist, the survey has been an annual tradition since 2016 and is organised by the Community Tech team.
