The call for proposals for the GLAM Wiki Conference, the Conference on Culture, Heritage and Wikimedia, which will take place on November 16-18, 2023 in Montevideo, Uruguay, is now open.
The conference will be a space for meeting and exchange between communities of professionals from heritage institutions, people from the Wikimedia movement working on heritage, and, in general, anyone interested in the intersection between heritage, the free and open movement, and Wikimedia.
We encourage the community to submit interactive proposals that actively involve the participants. There are different formats for the presentation of proposals, from workshops and discussion groups to panels.
The Conference aims to:
- Identify strategic priorities for the heritage, open culture and Wikimedia community for the promotion of equitable knowledge, diversity and inclusion.
- Exchange and build capacity around GLAM Wiki collaborative tools.
- Reflect, discuss and think about new roadmaps for Wikimedia community tools and platforms, in particular in relation to the release of multimedia content.
- Reconnect after the pandemic, re-network and rethink among all the people involved in the future of GLAM Wiki and the community of activists and professionals dedicated to open access to heritage.
Proposals can be submitted through this submission form until August 6 until the end of the day (23:59) anywhere in the world. Proposals will be evaluated by the Program Committee, based on criteria that will include relevance to the objectives of the Conference, importance and interest in the subject matter by the expected audience, among others. Final decisions will be announced during the month of September.
