The Wikitongues User Group is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the May 2024 cohort of the Wikimedia Language Revitalization Accelerator! This is an incredible opportunity for language activists and enthusiasts to gain the skills and resources they need to revitalize and document languages.
About the Program
The Wikimedia Language Revitalization Accelerator; funded by the Wikimedia Foundation through the Movement Strategy Grant is a year-long fellowship designed to empower participants to become leaders in their language communities. Through a combination of online workshops, mentorship, and micro-grant funding, the program equips participants with the knowledge and tools to:
- Effectively document their languages
- Contribute to Wikimedia projects like Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wiktionary, Wikisource etc
- Develop and implement language revitalization strategies
- Advocate for language rights
Who Should Apply?
Are you passionate about preserving your heritage language? Do you dream of making critical linguistic resources more accessible to your community? If so, we encourage you to apply! The program is open to anyone who is actively involved in language documentation or revitalization efforts.
