In March, the MCDC worked on preparing the full draft of the Movement Charter to be shared on Meta on April 2, 2024. This work included copy-editing and legibility review, legal check, incorporation of feedback by MCDC members, and translation of the document into different languages.
MCDC’s March convenings
- 7-8 March – WMF Strategy Meeting: The MCDC members were invited to attend the annual WMF Strategy Meeting in NYC.
- 9 March – NY working session: The MCDC members had an in-person meeting session following the WMF Strategy Meeting to debrief the meeting and review some preparatory materials from the Wikimedia Summit organizers.
- 14 March – MCDC’s regular meeting: Attendees worked on the content part, specifically on the relationship among the movement bodies, reviewed the Future of affiliates’ landscape text, and received communications-related updates from the support staff.
- 20 March – Summit sync with WM DE: MCDC and the WM DE discussed the program for the Summit and the rationale behind the program design for the Summit.
- 21 March – MCDC’s regular meeting: They discussed the legal feedback on the charter draft, and worked on the content for the supplementary documents.
- 26 March – Summit sync with WM DE: The Summit program design has been approved, they also discussed the roles of the MCDC at the Summit and the topics for the breakout sessions.
- 28 March – MCDC’s regular meeting: During this meeting, the MCDC worked through the supplementary documents and discussed discrepancies and further questions. The full Committee was updated on the Summit preparations. They discussed the April 4 community call.
