Wiki Loves Heritage Belgium
Wiki Loves Heritage Belgium 2024 is a photo competition about heritage in Belgium, organised by Wikimedia Belgium (WMBE), running from 1 July to 30 September 2024. The campaign has been organised annually since 2018. During the contest, you can upload your photos of heritage in Belgium.
Wanting to participate? Then read the following tips!
- Go out and take pictures of heritage. Heritage includes immovable and movable heritage, intangible heritage, maritime heritage and photos of permanent museum exhibitions. Important here is that there is Freedom of Panorama in Belgium.
- Log in or create a new Wikimedia account. Register under your own name or a pseudonym. Provide a valid email address.
- Upload and describe your photos. Preferably use your uploaded photos to illustrate a Wikipedia article. You don’t necessarily have to write it yourself! You can simply copy/paste the generated link at the end of the upload script to an existing article, in any language. Add a good description and one or more valid categories, so that people can easily find your image.
After the competition, a jury will judge the photos and select the winning ones. At the award ceremony, the winners will receive a cash prize (first prize is €500) and a photo frame of their winning photo. Need inspiration? Check out the 2023 edition.
Jurors wanted
The Wiki Loves Monuments international photo competition will be held again in the month of September. We are again looking for a jury to judge these 3 photo contests in October. Judges will receive a small flat-rate expense allowance. Submit applications via jury@wikimedia.be.
