Wikimedia Japan-Malaysia Friendship project was launched

On September 1, 2023, Taufik Rosman and I launched a project called Wikimedia Japan-Malaysia Friendship. This project aims to enrich Wikimedia contents about Malaysia and Japan and strengthen the collaboration between the two communities.

Before the launch

We met for the first time at Wikimania 2023 in Singapore and soon hit it off. We have something in common; organizing student Wikimedian community, holding editathons, and wanting people to continue to edit. It was natural for us to promise to collaborate after the event. Then, on September 1, we launched the project.

Message to Wikimedians

After the launch, we sent a message to Wikimedians.

Dear Malaysian Wikimedians

Hello. This is Eugene Ormandy from Japan. I and Taufik launched a project called [[Wikimedia Japan-Malaysia Friendship]] on MetaWiki. This project aims to enrich the Wikimedia contents about Malaysia and Japan and strengthen the collaboration between the two communities.

What’s next?

We will carry out various activities such as editathons, blog posts, and meetings. I hope that those activities will contribute to improve Wikimedia and deepen our friendship.
