Wiki Loves Butterfly (WLB), a digital conservation and scientific based field documentation project, run by a dedicated group of volunteers passionate about butterflies has succeeded in reaching  the milestone of contributing 10000 high quality images in Wikimedia Commons during its 6 year long journey. Since the prime motto of this scientific project is content generation and knowledge sharing in the global Wikimedia platform, we have faithfully and successfully carried away the sincere materialization of that moto through multifarious programmes apart from butterfly images uploading on Wikimedia Commons, like related article creation and development, data generation in wikidata, outreach targeting new wiki contributors, collaborative workability with special interest groups and scientific organizations, awareness generation through photo-walks, local communication and workshops with school students etc covering the vast area of Eastern and North Eastern part of India.

We believe in this terms-

  • T – Talents (i.e., skills and abilities)
  • E – Enthusiasm (i.e., shared excitement and interest)
  • A – Adaptable (i.e., flexibility is key to face unforeseen roadblocks)
  • M – Mutual respect (i.e., valuing everyone’s contributions)
  • W – Working Together (i.e., common purpose to deliver results)
  • O – Organized (i.e., clear structure, expectations, roles, etc.)
  • R – Recognition (i.e., continuous feedback)
  • K – Knowledge (i.e., having the required knowledge to achieve the common purpose)

Good teamwork means a synergistic way of working with each person committed and working towards a shared goal. Teamwork maximizes the individual strengths of team members to bring out their best. It is therefore a necessity that leaders facilitate and build the teamwork skills of their people if they are to steer a project toward success. The WLB team ever tries to run upon this very track.
