The hard decision between creating new article or merging as a section

As a graduate optometrist, I have always heard of Makkah Eye Hospital located in Kano state, Nigeria as a prominent hospital with several histories of eye surgeries done. However, after creating about 101 articles since I joined Wikipedia in 2021, I decided to draft an article on Makkah Eye Hospital on 16th of October, 2024.

As it is proper to do research before creating any article on English Wikipedia to ensure their notability per WP:Notable, I dug out independent newspapers and journals that cover the hospital as a whole. To my surprise, I figured out the hospital is affiliated with Al Basar International Foundation according to the newspapers in Nigeria and this is the key drive for their impact so far.

I was in between creating an article for Makkah Eye Hospital and merging it with the Al Basar International Foundation that manages it. Based on my knowledge of AFD (Article for Deletion) Discussion page which I had been active on recently, At the end of the day, I chose the safer side by merging the article with Al Basar International Foundation till the hospital is notable enough to stand on its own.

How to create a notable article from scratch

To create a new article on Wikipedia, it is important to ensure such article meet the notability guideline, afterward it is important to identify independent sources that cover the subject majorly. Sources to be used are journals, newspapers, books and reputable magazines. Do avoid blogs, interviews and gists.

After making research about the sources to be used, there is need to write an article on Wikipedia in neutral tone, non-promotional style of encyclopedic form of writing.As a newbie, it is important you understand the editing style on English Wikipedia before making attempt to create articles, when you are ready to do so, you can make use of Article Wizard. I prefer using Draft space as it allow me to gather enough information and write my article to some level of perfection before moving it to the main space.
