On October 28, 2024, Wikimedia Côte d’Ivoire launched the second edition of the Zenman Trophies, a unique event highlighting the organization’s most active volunteers.
Named in honor of Zenman, a pioneer of the Wikimedia movement in Côte d’Ivoire, these awards recognize the contributions and dedication of the association’s members from July 2023 to June 2024. This annual event serves as a symbol of appreciation for the tireless efforts of Ivorian contributors who promote free knowledge.
For this edition, the Zenman Trophies have expanded from three to four awards. In addition to the individual distinctions — the Community Award, the Contribution Award, and the Volunteer Engagement Award — a new award has been added: the Dynamic WikiClub Award, encouraging collective engagement.
With around ten clubs spread across Côte d’Ivoire, the Dynamic WikiClub Award aims to recognize regional efforts and the growth of the Wiki community nationwide. The winners will be announced on December 5, 2024, in honor of International Volunteer Day.
As part of the awards, the most dynamic WikiClub will receive financial and in-kind support to carry out activities throughout the year following their recognition. Individual awardees will receive capacity-building opportunities, free access to major events organized by Wikimedia Côte d’Ivoire, and grants to attend international events, such as Wikimania and the WikiConvention Francophone.
“Thanks to the Zenman Trophies, I was able to receive a full grant to attend Wikimania 2024,” says Aristide Kouamé, recipient of the 2023-2024 Community Award from the Zenman Trophies.
The Zenman Trophies provide an opportunity to reward the commitment of members within the Ivorian Wikimedia community and further invigorate it.
