♻️ This event is part of the Wikidata Data Reuse Days 2022.
Welcome to the Wikidata Reuse Days 2022! During the opening session, we will introduce the event concept to everyone, have a quick overview of all the interesting sessions that will take place from March 14 to 24, and answer all the questions you may have about the event.
During the following 90min, we will welcome on stage various people who will have 5 minutes to present the Wikidata-powered application or project they are working on:
- Wikidata Hub : this is a Web hub: it lets you craft URLs to go from an origin to a destination on the web, at the condition that you provide enough information on those points to be identified within Wikidata. It works primarily around Wikimedia sites, but given the amount Wikidata knows about the web at large, it can get you pretty far! (Maxlath)
- Auto-updating Google Sheets spreadsheets from Wikidata queries: Live demo of setting up an automated import from a Wikidata query into a Google Sheets spreadsheet, which is set to run on any chosen schedule (e.g. Once per day). The resulting data can be used to generate published visualisations which stay up to date with changes on Wikidata automatically. These can be created using built-in Google Sheets functions, or any third party tools which can use a Google Sheets spreadsheet as a data source. The demo will show how to generate a timeline with the Histropedia Sheets tool. (Navino Evans)
- The KGTK Wikidata browser is a fast Wikidata browser similar to SQID and Reasonator, providing additional information about classes and properties to help people who want to reuse Wikidata understand how Wikidata is organized. (Amandeep Singh and Gleb Satyukov)
- Cite Q, the template for reusing Wikidata metadata in citations in other projects such as Wikipedias (Andy Mabbett)
- The “Flaneur”-App enables a new perspective on a city via an audio walk in which the user can choose its own path. The nonlinear storytelling uses (wikipedia based) informations that are location based and get processed from text to speech. Entering a defined area enables an audio-augmentation of the place the user is walking by. (Erik Freydank)
- wikibase-sdk/wikibase-edit/wikibase-cli: a short tour of some of the Wikibase/Wikidata tools for the JS ecosystem and beyond! (Maxlath)
- Wikidata notability and reuse: Reusers of Wikidata rely on Wikidata information continuing to be available in the long term, but this may not be guaranteed by the current notability requirements. What if the content you’re using is unexpectedly deleted? This lightning talk will describe the issue with notability and propose a solution, connected to ongoing discussion about the notability requirements on-wiki. (Mike Peel)
- Wikidata on Vacation with Hewell: Hewell is a travel app for iOS that helps users explore the world around them and learn about the history and culture of an area. Hewell uses the power of Wikidata and Wikipedia to bring Open Data to life as users make their way in the real world. (Brian Schrader)
