♻️ Histropedia: Triumphs and challenges of reusing Wikidata

21 March 2022 @ 14:00 14:50 UTC

♻️ This event is part of the Wikidata Data Reuse Days 2022.

An overview of how Histropedia uses Wikidata currently, with a preview of our future plans for more in depth integration. This includes live demos to illustrate some of the more exciting things in the pipeline such as multi layered timelines to compare different topics side by side, as well as live Wikidata editing from within the Histropedia interface.

The session will also outline the challenges of automated data reuse for our use case, such as handling the ever changing subclass tree, difficulty identifying living people (or any other ongoing event), and knowing if an event was a first of it’s kind (e.g. the first person on the moon).

Finally, there will be an open discussion about the types of content people would like to see covered in Histropedia 2.0, as well as any suggestions for overcoming the challenges outlined.
