♻️ Wikidata – The secret sauce in many JSTOR Labs projects

23 March 2022 @ 13:00 13:50 UTC

♻️ This event is part of the Wikidata Data Reuse Days 2022.

The JSTOR Labs team has used Wikidata in a number of projects over the last 5 years, some currently public, and others that were for internal exploration. In this presentation we will share our experience in both using Wikidata directly and federating it with a self-hosted instance of Wikibase in AWS (using Neptune for the RDF triplestore). We will provide a demo of 3 public Labs projects that are currently using Wikidata. The presentation will also include a short live-coding portion in which participants may follow along to create a simple visual essay using Juncture. In the remainder of the time will discuss future plans for LOD and IIIF, including an early idea/prototype using Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons structured data for semantic image search and auto-generation of IIIF manifests.
