Smithsonian Edit-a-Thon: Women Innovators in Aviation and Spaceflight

During this edit-a-thon, attendees will learn the basics of how to edit Wikipedia and help combat the gender gap on Wikipedia by updating and creating articles related to the history of women in aviation and spaceflight! Curators from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum have helped develop an editing worklist from our collections and archives.

No Wikipedia experience necessary! We will help you earn your Wiki Wings by teaching you a range of Wikipedia editing techniques. Wikimedia DC will also be on hand to help answer any questions you might have. Additionally, we will have a set of images to upload to Wikimedia Commons for those who wish to learn the process of uploading and inserting images into Wikipedia pages.

This event is planned in conjunction with the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative, a multiyear undertaking to document, research, collect, display, and share the history of women in the United States. #BecauseOfHerStory
